Annual giving, or the Annual Fund, supports the present needs of the school. It supplements tuition in order to help with all aspects of school operations including student programs, scholarships and technology, and enables Horizon Academy to attract and retain the best educators in the field of learning disabilities. The options you choose for giving to Horizon Academy listed below are what we rely upon to raise nearly $200,000 each year. We appreciate your generosity!
General Development Funds
You can state that your gift can be used wherever Horizon Academy and its Board of Directors see the greatest immediate need.
Honor/Memorial Funds
Make a donation in honor of someone's birthday, anniversary, graduation or special occasion, or pay tribute to the memory of a loved one. All donations of $1,000 and greater in this category will also have their name engraved on a plaque hanging at Horizon Academy.
Restricted Gift Funds
Designate how you want your gift to be used. Your gift or grant can support a specified program or project at Horizon Academy. Please call 913-422-0254 for current projects that need funding.
Scholarship Funds
Your donation can help a student, who could not otherwise afford full tuition, to attend HorizonAcademy. You can choose to help students attend:
• The regular school year program
• The summer school program in June
Special Event Funds
Horizon Academy holds an annual fundraiser, the Bayou Bash. Funds raised from this event are put towards programs and scholarships for students. For more information on the Bayou Bash please click here.
In-kind Gifts
Horizon Academy always appreciates in-kind gifts such as office supplies, paper, printing services, etc. We also accept new items to be auctioned off at the silent and live auction at the Bayou Bash.

- Box Tops for Education—Horizon Academy receives 10 cents for every box top collected. Look for the Box Tops for Education symbol on General Mills cereals, Betty Crocker, Green Giant and many other products. Simply cut out the symbols and send them in to the school office.
- Target—Target also donates a portion of your purchases to Horizon Academy. All you have to do is sign up for a Target Visa Card at www.target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142 and designate Horizon Academy as your school. If you already have a card, please call the number above or speak to a representative at a Target store to designate Horizon Academy as your school.
- Horizon Academy goes Green!- There is a recycling bin behind Horizon Academy for paper products only; Horizon gets money every month based on the weight of the full bin. Catalogs, magazines and phone books are welcome. The office also recycles printer cartridges and cell phones. Just bring them all over to the school and help us earn a little extra money and help save the environment.
Horizon Academy's fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th. All donations to Horizon Academy qualify as a charitable tax deduction to the extent allowed by law. Gifts can be made by cash, check, credit card or appreciated securities.
